Introducing Sharon

MEET SHARON

My name is Sharon and I have been making cards for about 2 years now.

My story is much like a lot of other crafters - nothing spectacular.  As a child I loved to colour and draw - copying cartoon characters etc.  I did crocheting which was taught to me by my Nan. My Nan was very creative and made everything from duvets, to men’s vests, knitting both hand and machine etc.  She loved in the Seventies to collect shells and coloured glass and cover lamp bases, tables and jars - so you could say she was into altered art.  I guess I take after my Nan, I knitted, sewed, did soft furnishings, loved to bake, cross stitch, jewelery making - you name it, I tried it!
Like so many children at sixteen I had no idea what I really wanted to do with life and so I went into the administration world and worked for many years in this field  but I never envisaged working for 30 years doing this!
I had tried doing a couple of Art evening classes (Painting and drawing) at the local Art College but being a single Mother this was quite difficult with holding down a full time job.  I had many times thought about doing a HND in Fine Arts but finances played a part in not doing this.  I did on the other hand do a couple of City and Guilds Soft Furnishing course and even a City and Guilds Massage course.  I also did an A Level in English Literature.  I loved playing with make-up and even did an evening course in this when I was very young.
After being retired on ill health grounds at 46 I did nothing for a few years - but still having the burning desire to paint and draw I decided to take up card making.  I had done a little stamping, painting and drawing with my Son when he was young.  Not being able to consider doing a full time course, I thought I would start gently with colouring so I got some Copics and joined an on-line Copics colouring class.  I went on Youtube and watched people colouring, watched where the shadows on people’s faces were when I was watching the TV etc and here I am a fully fledged crafter loving all aspects of crafting and continually trying to perfect and develop my own style.

Help me Welcome Sharon to the CMM Family. We are excited to have  her join us and share her cerations with all of you.

Come back tomorrow for our final DT Member reveal.

Introducing Lisa

MEET LISA

I am Lisa and I hail from the good ole Midwest. it's an area of the country that in the span of a week we can often times experience all 4 seasons. ( lucky me,LOL)

I live in Dayton, Ohio where until recently I was working at our local scrapbooking store ( I got the news we will be closing mid to end of June). I teach a card class every Monday night . I teach different folds ,layouts ,interactives, prisma pencils and gamsol, and pretty much anything to do with paper crafts. I have been interested in art for some 35 years in one form or another.I have dabbled in watercolors, pastels, pencils  , batik , jewelry making  and have settled on scrapbooking and card making. I love to color more than anything ,especially since I've found the world of Digis.( much to my Husband's playful griping " Another $4.00 charge from ..... '') I can be found in my craft room any free time I get, but usually i am "organizing" my latest retail  acquisition.( as if I need anything more),

I have been married since 1977, ( to the same handsome man), blessed with 2 lovely girls, gained 2 son-in-laws, enjoy a 3 year old granddaughter and am waiting on the 2nd granddaughter due in August.

I am so looking forward to "meeting" a new community of talent and sharing and be inspired by you all.

Well Lisa we are looking forward to working with you and for you to share your creations with all of  us. Everyone please help us welcome Lisa to the CMM family.

Come back tomorrow to see the third new member.

DT Reveal. Introducing Laura

MEET LAURA

Hi, I'm Laura, I am 28 years old and I am from Lancashire, which is in North West England, UK! It does have a tendency to rain somewhat so an indoor hobby is not a bad thing to have. In my spare time, chances are I will be sat in my craft room, putting together a new creation. I am slightly addicted to buying more stuff for my crafty stash and my husband definitely wishes I had a cheaper hobby! But I think it is worth every penny!
I am married to my wonderful husband Matt, who I met through university/church. One of things we love to do together is musical theatre and we can often be found treading the boards of our local theatre. Singing is my other big love and in a dream world I would be starring on broadway! And making cards at the same time!
Starting my blog was one of the best things I have done, it has opened up a whole new world of crafting and I am so excited to be a part of this team and to be able to share my love of crafting with you all!

Let's all give Laura a warm CMM welcome. I am so excited to have her join us and for her to  share her wonderful creations with all of you.

Come back tomorrow to see our next DT member reveal.
